I had a sick Dolly

in the tub after at least TEN bloody noses. 1am!!!
Finally asleep
Latte kept her company a lot
asking her Daddy if the needle is going to hurt

...she made it!

Callie got VERY sick three weeks ago, started like a normal cold, fever, stuffy nose, coughing, chilled and achy; but did not get better after three day's, then four day's, then five, by the night of the fifth night, I was past concerned, she had a few bloody noses earlier in the day and we spent the evening getting the bleeding to stop, which scared her to death, "Mommy, I'm scared" she kept saying, at one point saying "this is HORRIFYING"; which made us both laugh and made Callie VERY upset! We would no sooner get the bleeding to stop when she would cough and here we go again.........

This went on for two hours. FINALLY, she fell asleep propped up on a pillow. I had intended to stay on the couch through the night, but her brother offered to stay there with her and I must admit, I am too old to be sleeping on the couch, or worse; the FLOOR! So I told him if she started coughing to watch it and if she started bleeding to call for me; off to bed I went (after midnight). I no sooner made it to the bathroom to change when I could hear her start to cough...wait...wait...coughing harder, now I'm headed back down the stairs, round the corner and there she is, blood all over her hands and face and poor Hopper in the BATHROOM!

The commotion woke Doug up, who has to work at 4am, and I sent him to the store to try to find something that would help put her to sleep and some orange juice. I got her in the tub, cleaned her up and when her Daddy got back we gave her some night time cold medicine just for the "knocked out" factor. She fell asleep on our floor and slept the rest of the night (by now it's 2am!)

Callie went to the Dr. Saturday morning and he felt that since she had been sick six day's, and not gotten better that she should head up to PCMC and have blood drawn for a white cell count, and possibly a chest X-ray depending on what the blood said. Little trooper that she is, she handled it beautifully.

Turns out she had inFLUenza, the "real deal" and we we're sent home to keep her comfortable and if she didn't feel MUCH better on Monday, we we're to take her back in.

She felt much better Sunday, but we stayed home from church anyway and then went to Auntie Michele's for dinner. She had made a full recovery by Monday, and didn't want to miss one more day of school, she was pretty SICK of being SICK!!

Saturday afternoon movie

We went to see Monsters VS Aliens 3D Saturday with our good friends the McAfee's

The kids LOVED it! The 3D was a total hit

MONSTERS AND ALIENS!

Caleb, Callie, Ethan and Ethan

Ethan and his dog....

Brothers; friends.

This picture makes me happy.

Ethan looks very much like Spencer at that age. It's actually startling how much Ethan reminds me of Spence. The auburn hair, the freckles and the same teeth! I will have to make the effort to dig a picture of Spencer out and post it.

As a Mom; this is the BEST kind of picture, a relationship I hope will be long lasting, deep and meaningful, as Spencer becomes a man and Ethan follows behind in the steps of a loving brother, each being a gift I have left for the other.

Life is good.

Are you LISTENING; Latte?

Two sick kids

How cute, sick Callie reading out loud to her sick brother. I couldn't have staged it better if I'd tried!!!

Totally spring fever!

We got outside last Monday and cleaned up the flower bed, raked up the leaves and spruced up the yard in general, it was so dang nice outside; kids riding bikes, people walking dog's and yard-work..... SPRING IS HERE; YEAH!

WHAT a dork?

Pretty proud Daddy

I had to be to work at 8:30 last Friday for the famous Sundance sample sale and was not home to get Callie's hair done, but he was feeling oh so creative and gave her piggy tails, even took pictures to PROVE IT!

U of U gymnastics meet

Callie's school gave out coupons for free entry to the last home gymnastics meet; it was also two of the senior's last permormances at Rice-Eccles, she was SO excited, so fo course we went.

We had such a good time. Faux picture with the team, crown making, balloons and hot dog's, cokes and ice cream! The gymnasts we're so much fun to watch, reminded me of my own gymnastics day's, Callie thought it was "so cool".

Both little one's we're very interested and had fun the entire time, we ran into our good friend Debbie with her daughter Shay and two friends. It was my first gymnastics meet since one of my own, I think we will try to attend another one next year, it was a BLAST!

How strange??????

I cannot get the story of Natsha Richardson out of my brain; the one that suffered it's own injury in January.

This story has really gotten to me. I can't help but shudder at the thought that I never even gave it ONE SINGLE THOUGHT the night I fell, that I could have hurt myself badly enough that I could fall asleep and never wake up? It NEVER dawned on me; AT ALL, that I might need to have Doug check on me periodically (which I really should have done) or that the upset stomach and "loopiness" I started feeling within AN HOUR; may have been something potentially deadly, I felt ok afterward, I was talking and moving around, I had a headache, and my head was so tender to the touch, but I absolutely should have been more concerned with my symptoms. I can tell you I will NEVER look at a bonk to the noggin the same way again, I would have felt this way without such a story, but now, really understanding the consequences that come to some, I would absolutely have handled it much, MUCH differently.

I have considered, since this story came out, this woman who is not much older than me, with two boy's my own boys' ages, that I am extremely lucky that my fall was at the wrong angle, the wrong place, the wrong force apparantly, that I am here typing, LIVING my life, while she is not.

I am very grateful tonight that my own family isn't saying "yeah, that happened to us, she just fell"

GOD is good. I am grateful; and lucky. I am aquainted with sudden death, and it SUCKS. My heart just breaks for that poor family.

Life is fragile.

Happy ST. Patricks day!

Saint Patrick's Day is now associated with everything Irish, from the colour green to shamrocks, good luck to Guinness! However the color of Saint Patrick is blue!!
However, its true meaning is as a time-honoured day for spiritual regeneration and offering prayers for missionaries worldwide.
St Patrick's day is always celebrated on the 17th March. Many believe St Patrick died on this day. The day is a religious holiday, so along with many businesses closing for the day (with the exception being restaurants and pubs), many Irish people attend mass.
In many cities and towns, all over the world, with an Irish population, St. Patrick's Day is a day to party! The people of Ireland often attend church in the morning and then get together and party in the afternoon.

A fairy tale.....

One day, long, long ago, there lived a woman
who did not whine, nag, or b***ch.

But it was a long time ago, and it was just that one day.
The End

Te-he-he....

Look what "bloomed" in the office..

            My FAVORITE; CALLIE-lilly....
 and Ethan-DAISY-DOO

Two of my BEST blooms in the "garden".

Shhh.......

Cody is sleeping. (both of us are sick today!)

Sunday grooming?

Sissy wanted to get her brother ready for church this morning.

Breakfast for dinner!

Latte wanted hers too!

We'd had a busy day Saturday. I had my hair done in the morning, went to an eye appointment; courtesy of losing a lens in my other pair, then met Doug at the Olympic oval for some record breaking speed skating, home to fly kites, BACK to the store to buy another kite, this time WITH the four year old, so now this trip is going to take TWICE as long, home to give the little one's a bath, then the dreaded........

                                     WHATS FOR DINNER?

Hmmm. Well, I think we'll have waffles and sausage! It's easy and quick. Lazy person's solution.

Saturday afternoon

 Get up kite, GET UP
 Picture taker's shadow

I bought kites for the little one's and we tried to fly them Saturday afternoon, to no avail...

not enough wind. Latte ran over the top of Ethan's, popping a hold in it; off to the store to buy another one, THEN when he wouldn't wait until we we're ready to use it,  Daddy blew it up (inflatable kites) it got ANOTHER hole in it! It gets better.

Around 8:30 I notice that Callie's seems to not be as full; you guessed it, HOLE IN IT!!

SHEESH........

Why; you ask?

I have been asked why I have the Beatles playing on my site. My age would say I didn't really "live" through that time, at least that I would have remembered; but my parents we're young when they had me, I will be fourty this year and my Mom just turned 57, Dad 59? they we're kids. I remember my Uncle Cam telling me once "We thought you'd be DEAF for sure by the time you we're one; your Mom and Dad would play that music SO LOUD"!

"That music" would have been largely The Beatles. I love the Beatles for many reason, but mainly HARMONY. I LOVE songs with harmony, 2,4,5-part harmony, it will give me goosebumps. I LOVE MUSIC. I sang during HS, and anytme I had a choice between my music and ANYTHING else, music won HANDS DOWN!

The Beatles give me an instant boost, take any chore, unpleasant task, ride in the car; add The Beatles and voila! Happier instantly.

HLHS

Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) is a condition in which the left side of the heart is underdeveloped. Usually, the left ventricle, the left atrium, the mitral valve and the aorta are affected. It is called a syndrome because it can encompass several different variations and varying degrees of development of these parts of the heart.

Ethan's cardiologist is Dr. Jason Su, at Primary Children's Medical Center; he is a terrific Dr and person, and was so instrumental to understanding and coping with Ethan's diagnosis of Tetrology of Fallot. Dr. Su is also Gracie Gledhill's cardiologist, we ran into Gracie and her Mom last August during Ethan's check up, I was able to "see" this baby I had been keeping up with via blog. Gracie was born with HLHS, this is the most severe of the 35 congenital heart defects, and is very hard to sustain long term.

Gracie lost her battle with HLHS on Monday. She was able to have a heart transplant after being on the donor list only 3 day's, but that heart didn't "take" and she came out of that surgery on life support and her little body was just too tired.

I believe this little family will be together again. Elder Russell M. Nelson:

"Parents who have surrendered the sweetest and smallest flowers from the family's garden need to remember our Heavenly Father. He has promised a special reward to those who now suffer in silence, who spend long days and longer nights through their trying times of bereavement. Our Creator has promised glory. He said, "For after much tribulation come the blessings. Wherefore the day cometh that ye shall be crowned with much glory; the hour is not yet, but nigh at hand." (D&C 58:4) That promised glory includes the blessing of reunion with each child who has left the family circle to help surviving members of the family to draw nearer to God. Those children still live and are a heritage to the Lord."

Our prayers are with her family.

Attention Cousin Tuesdi

I can't view your blog anymore......HELP!

Sunday night BINGO

It was a good weekend at our house.

We had a Sunday dinner that NO ONE complained about and that EVERYONE ate; so very rare around here!

After dinner we played bingo, then Ethan wanted to play again and I was making cookies so his brother's played with him. This is an AWESOME sight for this Mother; her three son's playing bingo on a Sunday night and chocolate chip cookies!!!
